The wild carp on Orellana are now reaching incredible weights of 37kg(81lbs) they are unbelievable hard fighting, fit, healthy carp with some breathtaking wild mirror carp. The average size carp we expect our anglers to catch is 18kg (39lbs) but hopefully with a few special monsters thrown into the mix.
The fishing season runs from mid September to the end of May here on lake Orellana with our busiest times February, March, April, October , November and the festive season, we advise you to booking a year in advance to guarantee your preferred dates during these peak times.
You should fly to Madrid airport which is the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport it has fantastic connections to most European destinations.
Our guides are on the lake everyday going round our anglers giving advice and checking on what they need, you can WhatsApp them if you have any problems or with your shopping list which they will bring to the swim for you.
You only need to bring a few personal items, such as your sleeping bag, fishing reels, bite alarms, and end tackle. Don’t worry about the rest — we provide all the main equipment and top‑quality gear for you.(leads are available)
No, it’s not necessary to bring bait with you. All our packages include a special particle mix and enough tiger nuts for your entire fishing period. You’re only need to bring plastics and if you like your own hookbaits.
Please note: fishing with boilies is not recommended for most of our season due to the presence of crayfish and channel catfish in the lake.
The weather year round is very mild in the Extremadura region of Spain, spring starts early in February with water temperatures starting to rise and weather through to April is generally mild with day time temps just below or above 20c, nights are mostly mild. April/May temperatures start to increase and by the end of May easily 30c plus. Closed for fishing all summer as temperatures can be 40c plus for weeks at a time. Mid September things are starting to cool again but you can still expect it to be 30c or more on some days with warm night this continues into October/November but with it cooling a bit each week. The weather through December into January is mild with some days still above 20c and more importantly the water temperatures stay in double figures so carp staying active. If we are going to get a cold week or two tends to be second half of January.
Spawning on Orellana generally will be from mid April until early May but on such a big water we find that they will spawn at different times on different areas of the lake. If we have changeable weather conditions it’s even possible for spawning to take place over six week period. The good news is there’s generally always an area of the lake where they have ether not started spawning yet or are all ready finished spawning so fishing is still good over the period.
